In 2013, PewDiePie, a Swedish gamer, gained almost 2.3 billion video views on his YouTube channel, making it the most popular in the world. However, in February of 2014, his popularity was surpassed by Shakira and Rihanna.

Shakira and music star’s duet “Can’t Remember to Forget You” was released in January. The music video became a hit on YouTube, making Shakira’s official channel the most-viewed on the platform in February, according to Tubefilter. As of March 13, the video had been viewed 189.1 million times, while an audio-only version had reached 32.2 million views.

In the year 2009, Shakira’s official YouTube channel was created. However, in February 2014, it received a sudden increase of popularity as almost 10% of its 2.7 billion views were obtained during this period. Additionally, over 780,000 individuals subscribed to Shakira’s channel in that same month, resulting in a total of 3.1 million subscribers.

During the month of February, PewDiePie (also known as Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg) was the second most popular channel on YouTube, receiving nearly 250 million views. Despite this, he still maintains a significant lead over Shakira in terms of subscribers, having gained 2.2 million new ones in February and reaching a total of 24.4 million.
